Mission Statement
Maisha Bora strengthens relationships between African and African Diaspora communities and the systems that serve them by creating spaces for dialogue, practical learning, and cultural exchange. Through community-centered engagement and culturally informed education, we support individuals and institutions in building understanding, trust, and pathways to opportunity.
Vision Statement
We envision inclusive communities where cultural knowledge is respected, African and African Diaspora voices shape the systems that affect them, and meaningful partnerships create opportunities for belonging and well-being.
Our Values
Cultural Humility

We approach every interaction with openness and a willingness to learn, recognizing that communities are the experts in their own experiences.

Community Knowledge

We believe the lived experiences and insights of community members are essential sources of wisdom and guidance.

Respect & Dignity

Every person deserves to be treated with care, respect, and dignity, regardless of background, language, or circumstance.

Dialogue & Shared Learning

We create spaces where community members and institutions can listen, reflect, and learn from one another.

Practical Solutions
Our work focuses on meaningful, real-world knowledge that helps people navigate everyday systems and challenges.

Namuyaba Temanju
Founder & Facilitator
Namuyaba is the founder and director of Maisha Bora, an organization working to strengthen relationships between African Diaspora refugee and immigrant families and the systems that serve them through culturally responsive education, wellness initiatives, research, and advocacy.

Drawing from both lived experience as an immigrant and years of professional work alongside African and African Diaspora communities, she brings practice-based insight into how cultural misunderstandings, system navigation challenges, and service gaps impact families and providers alike.

Her work focuses on developing community-centered solutions that improve service delivery, support family and community wellness, and foster collaboration between communities and institutions. She regularly engages providers, educators, legal professionals, and community leaders in dialogue and training to build more equitable and effective systems.
