Community Initiatives

At Maisha Bora, community engagement is rooted in relationship, trust, and shared learning. Many African and Africqn Diaspora families navigate systems that were not designed with their experiences in mind. Our community initiatives create welcoming spaces where people can connect, learn practical skills, and strengthen their voices. These programs are designed to grow alongside the community, beginning with small gatherings and expanding into workshops, dialogues, and collaborative learning opportunities.

Maisha Bora Chai Chats

Small, informal gatherings where community members come together over tea to share experiences, learn from one another, and build trust.

These conversations are designed to be welcoming and pressure-free. Participants are invited to reflect on everyday experiences such as navigating schools, healthcare, parenting, work, and cultural transitions. Chai Chats may include:

  • Guided conversations around common community experiences
  • Opportunities to learn practical information about local services
  • Community storytelling and shared reflection
  • Occasional participation from providers interested in listening and learning
  • The goal is not formal training, but relationship building and mutual understanding. These gatherings help lay the foundation for deeper community education and collaboration.

    Community Education

Community Education sessions offer practical information and skill-building opportunities for African and African Diaspora families navigating everyday systems.
